Although many may be able to perform the core elements of a role in your organization each employee brings their own slant to their work. Enabling people to bring part of themselves to the job, and for their job to help define who they are, is central to achieving employee engagement.
David Rock of the NeuroLeadership Institute speaks of over 100 unconscious bias' we all carry around, none of which are directly addressable by the individual. Our bias is based upon our experience and cultural background.
They have bought into your organisation and are working alongside you to execute your shared mission. They deserve your respect and you deserve theirs. If ever that respect is lost something needs to change.
In fact, everyone changes all the time and the fact they do change proves they can. The question is only how someone’s behaviour changes and whether that improves or degrades their employing organisation’s performance.
